1.Safety:
- Since your Sculpture depends on a small electrical
pump, and since water conducts electricity, take reasonable precautions
against shock hazards:
- The Sculpture should be close enough to an electrical outlet that no extension cord is needed.
- Don¡¯t run power cords under carpets or across
areas of foot traffic or where chair legs or other objects could get
tangled in the cord. Someone might trip and fall or pull the Sculpture
over.
- Typically, the pump requires a grounded
three-pronged 110-volt outlet. Ground-fault circuit-interrupter (GFCI)
equipped outlets are recommended for protection against electrical shock
hazards, also. If you are in doubt about the electrical safety measures
in your house or office wiring, consult a professional electrician.
- Position the pump¡¯s cord so any water which might
ever leak, spill, or splash doesn¡¯t drip into the electrical outlet.
Let the cord hang below the level of the outlet, so if water does run down the cord it will drip on the floor before reaching the outlet.
- While unlikely, a pet or child could be
electrocuted by chewing or otherwise cutting through the power cord. Try
to position the fountain so its power cord is out of sight and out of
reach of children and pets.
- Submersible pumps are not designed to work in air
and should ONLY be used when covered with water. Never let your pump run
dry (run without water flowing through it). If the pump is making a
sucking or growling sound, it is telling you: GIVE ME WATER!
Turn off the pump if you're going to be away for a prolonged time (unavailable to monitor and replenish the water).
2. Installation:
CONSIDER LOCATION
These are freestanding units, often of a size and
design which make them a focal point in a room. Generally speaking,
because of their overall size, height, and/or weight, these Sculptures
are intended to be placed on the floor, not on a table or other
elevated, supporting surface. The location should be firm and level, both
for safety and the Sculpture¡¯s performance.
UNPACK YOUR SCULPTURE
By now you have found the perfect spot to place your
Pure as Water Sculpture. Take the boxed sculpture to the desired
location and carefully remove the box and wrapping. Place the ssculpture
in the desired location ensuring that the piece is on a level surface.
CHECK THEPUMP
Make sure that the pump is in place and fastened securely to the sculpture. Check that all tubing is securley fastened in place.
Add Water
Using DISTILLED WATER only, add
water to the base - the reservoir container - of your sculpture only to
the top of the pump only, be sure there is enough water to completely
submerge the pump.
Plug in and Adjust the Pump
Two safety rules. First, never run the pump unless it
is submerged in water. Second, take your hands out of the water and
make sure the plug and your hands are dry before plugging the cord in to
the electrical outlet. When you plug in the pump, the water will begin
flowing. It will take a moment for the water to reach the top of the
sculpture before cascading down the front of the water wall. At first
the water may not flow evenly. If this is the case, run your finger
along the top of the feature to coax the water to start flowing evenly.
Make sure the water is flowing evenly on both the
left and the right side of the water wall. If the water is flowing
faster on one side than the other your water wall may require some
leveling. Take one of the shims provided and tilt the water wall to slip
the shim under the side of the water wall which is flowing the
quickest. This should even out the flow enough to achieve an even
cascade.
On the pipe/tubing connected to your pump there are
two ball valves. Valve A -- next to the pump may be used to control the
speed at which the water flows. Experiment with the water flow by
turning this valve gently. You want the water to flow strongly enough to
create a nice effect, but not so strong that water splashes out of the
container.
Take the excess power cord and arrange it so that it
shows as little as possible by tucking it back into the basin of the
water wall.
Take the grate and the decorative rock and rinse them
thoroughly. Place the grate into the basin of the water wall. Next,
place the rocks or marbles onto the grate. Make sure that the rocks or
marbles do not fall through the grate as they could obstruct the flow of
water.
Now that your have successfully set up you Pure as Water
Sculpture, sit back, relax and enjoy. If you have any questions, please

3. Care and Maintenance:
KEEP WATER LEVEL HIGH
The most important aspect of sculpture care is to maintain adequate
water level. Depending on the moisture level of the sculpture's
environment, you may need to fill it every 2-7 days. If you go
out-of-town, unplug your sculpture. Do not let your pump run dry.
CLEAN YOUR SCULPTURE EVERY 1-3 MONTHS
Calcium - Unsightly calcium deposits on ceramic and
stone parts of your sculpture can be removed. We recommend using an old
toothbrush or other suitable brush, dish detergent, and warm water to
clean the base of the sculpture and rocks inside where mineral deposits
may build up. Rinse thoroughly and dry before refilling with DISTILLED
WATER.(See Installation instructions)
Replacing all the water in the sculpture once a month will naturally
cut back on deposits and possible algae growth. It greatly reduces the
need to take a sculpture apart for cleaning.
DRAINING YOUR SCULPTURE
On the pipe/tubingconnected to your pump there are
two ball valves. Valve Bfarthest away from thepump is used to drain your
sculpture. Simply attach drain hose to Valve B, placing the other end
of the hose into a bucket or container large enough to hold the water
you are removing from your sculpture. Turn on pump until water is
drained. Remember do not run the pump dry. Once the water is below the
pump, remove the water by hand with a cup or towels.
